I felt strong today and my pack felt light - energised by the exhilarating terrain and beautiful path, but also our very comfortable gite last night in Montpelier and a great night's sleep. Our gite tonight is quite another story - maybe I'll write about that tomorrow, when we will be staying in an even smaller village with very little accommodation.
So ... we rang ahead for tomorrow night to try to stay in a small private gite Chez Charmaine but she had no space for us. Unlike albergues in Spain the gites in France are open to all - families, hikers, school groups, local bands. So, if there's something on in the village or nearby, spare beds are difficult to find. And it's school holidays this week. Happily for us, Charmaine is both kind and enterprising and has offered to put us up in her home, as she has two spare double rooms. There are no restaurants in the village, so we will be her guests for dinner and breakfast. Demi-pensione (dinner, bed and breakfast) for 35 euros per person. What fun!
Tonight, no mobile service and a weak wi-fi connection in the gite so nothing more to add, just some photos from today.
A bientot.
