It's the first time we've had a wi-fi connection since Jaca. To catch up, I've posted an entry for each of Day 30 and 31 - but photos only.
Now that we are 'connected' I should be able to write a longer update filling in the past few days but as luck would have it we've spent a fair amount of time this afternoon working through some 'technical difficulties'. I managed to lose the small - but important - black cable used to charge my camera and connect to my iPad. Thankfully Domi found a work around to charge the camera, so I can keep taking photos. And he has helped me set up the wi-fi connection directly from my camera to iPad. So now I'm good to go, but it's taken a while and it's nearly dinner time - for us, not for the Spanish. So, this will be another brief update.
The past three days in Spain have been wonderful and today probably my favourite day since we began from Arles on the first of April. Clear blue skies and wide open spaces, bordered by mountains in every direction. It was very cold when we left the the albergue in Ruesta - around 8 this morning. Three layers, plus scarf and gloves - I don't imagine it was more than 2 or 3 degrees. But a long climb for the first hour and the promise of a stunning day took care of the chill. I had a feeling of exhiliration that I've experienced before en Camino, en Espana. I said to The French, 'this is my favourite day', and so it continued.
Three hours later, we came across a small village with one bar - great coffee and the French and I shared a delicious boccadillo of jamon, queso y tomate. Yum! In the sunshine, with a handful of other pilgrims nearby - people we have shared a refugio or albergue with for the past two or three nights - Peter from Melbourne, three Spanish, two Portuguese one Italian. We've also caught up with 82 year old Didier - first at the albergue in Jaca, then the refugio in Arres and last night the albergue in Ruesta. It's not that he's slowed down - we gained a day on the Col du Somport and Didier stopped in Jaca for two days. He always gives us a big smile - and vice versa - and we exchange a few words. C'est tout.
Back to today. After our early lunch stop, we continued on the peaceful and beautiful path, sun shining, not a care in the world. By noon, we were down to t-shirts. Not that it was that hot, but the warm sun on bare arms was impossible to resist. When we we walked into Sanguesa soon after 2, we saw that it was 20 degrees!
So here we are at the end of Day 32 with two days more to walk to complete the Camino Arles / Aragones. We have some plans for a little more walking after that - but that can wait. For now, I'm just grateful for another magical day on The Way, shared with The French.
Hasta luego amigos
